flowering raspberry (rhubus odoratus) is a deciduous shrub native to northern turtle island. the plant grows about 3-6ft tall and it distinguished by its lovely pin to purple flowers and large, palmate leaves. prefers well-drained, moist soil and thrives in part to full sun. it does spread by suckering, similar to red raspberry. the blooms occur in late spring to early summer, and does produce a fruit, sometmes called thimbleberry, but not reliably., and is more of an ornamental.
