leycesteria formosa, commonly known as himalayan honeysuckle, is a rare to find deciduous shrub that typically grows 3 to 6 feet tall. it has hollow stems and lance-shaped leaves, with clusters of flowers that transition from white to purple, attracting various pollinators. the flowers turn into dark purple berries that are said to taste reminiscent of chocolate. found in nature near streams or shady woodlands, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil and partial to full sun, preferring environments with regular moisture.

hardiness zone 7-9 **this plant is pushing zone boundaries by growing here, no guarantee it will over-winter. ours has survived the winters so far in a greenhouse. could be plant in a sheltered are and mulch very well in the winter.
